B2B SaaS content marketing is more competitive than ever, and most brands struggle to see results. Without a strong SEO strategy, content rarely drives consistent traffic growth or converts into signups and demo requests.

But content works when done right. Using a focused keyword strategy and a consistent publishing schedule, I helped CloudZero grow organic search traffic by over 30x in two years, with an 800% increase in the first year alone and a 1,400%+ rise in monthly demo requests.

Here's the exact process I used to take CloudZero from 3K to over 100K monthly organic visits.

How I Did It: Identifying Problems Areas

I began working with CloudZero in January 2021. Before I started, organic search traffic was largely stagnant. Here’s a look at the previous 6-months before I started with CloudZero:

CloudZero Traffic 2020

And here is the 4.5 year span I worked with CloudZero on its SEO and content strategy (January 2021 to June 2025):

My goal with CloudZero was twofold:

1. Drive consistent, quarter-over-quarter, organic search traffic growth

2. Drive consistent, quarter-over-quarter, demo request growth

I identified two issues with CloudZero's content strategy:

1. Inconsistent and infrequent content schedule

CloudZero only published a few times a month, with no consistency on days published. This made it hard to stick to a schedule, publish content frequently, and expect consistent traffic growth.

2. No well-defined SEO strategy

The second issue (and more problematic one), was that CloudZero didn’t have a well-defined SEO strategy. Often, content was written and published without prior keyword research. Though, some on-page SEO tactics were used (like including keywords in the published URL), these SEO considerations often took place after the content was already written.

I cannot stress enough, it’s vital that this type of SEO planning, and keyword research, happen before you begin to write.

Deciding on what keywords to target first (based on relevance, search volume, keyword difficulty, and their ability to drive signups/demo requests) is the foundation of ranking highly in Google, and ultimately, driving more qualified traffic to your website.

Knowing what keywords to target before you start writing also helps guide your content outlines, informing what questions, subtopics, and other information to include. This process gives you the best opportunity to identify areas of weakness in existing content, and helps you a develop a plan to create a better resource and beat out ranking results in Google.

How I Did It: Creating An SEO Content Strategy That Drives Explosive Growth

With two problem areas identified, here’s how we fixed them:

1. Established a consistent, content creation and publishing schedule

First, we decided on a publishing frequency that we could maintain, given the company’s goals and budget. During the first year, we decided on two SEO-focused blog posts per week. That is, two blog posts focused on a specific keyword we were trying to target (this later expanded to 4-5 SEO blog posts per week).

This created a consistent publishing schedule that ensured we were constantly creating new content that would give us a chance to improve our rankings.

2. Established an SEO strategy targeting keywords we could rank for (and that would drive demo requests)

Second, and again, more importantly, we established a keyword strategy with a list of search terms we wanted to target and rank highly for in Google.

We did this by creating a list of keywords and then prioritizing the best ones to start with, evaluating search volume and keyword difficulty. We also kept in mind topic relevance and whether or not we expected that term to convert into demo requests.

When evaluating search terms, we want to find keywords that have a solid amount of monthly search volume (which can be relative to the industry) but also a low enough keyword difficulty score, or in other words less competition, where we can realistically rank for that search term with a good piece of content.

What Were The Results?

With the right keyword targeting approach and a focus on publishing content consistently, we were able to achieve some impressive results:

  • 45x increase from Janaury 2021 to June 2025 (~3K in Janaury 2021, 140K+ in June 2025)
  • 30x increase in monthly organic search traffic in less than 2 years (~3K in Janaury 2021, ~48K in Janaury 2021)
  • 8x increase in monthly organic search traffic in the first year
  • 1,400% increase in total monthly demo requests
  • 300% increase in demo requests in the first year (comparing Q4 2020 to Q4 2021 demo requests)
